Meet Cassandra Runge

Acupuncturist Mesa, Cassandra RungeCassandra has always been interested in healing, specifically liking the mind-body connection to healing. “I believe in empowering and educating patients to take control of their health and wellness.”

The Path to a Career in Acupuncture

As an athlete growing up in Wisconsin, Cassandra experienced different health issues. “I started going to a chiropractor when I was in my undergrad, and that’s kind of how I got into alternative medicine.”

Cassandra earned an undergraduate degree in child life, which is the psychosocial care of hospitalized children. She felt like she wanted to do more to help others heal. That’s when Cassandra decided to go back to school to be a naturopathic doctor. She attended National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois, where she met her husband, Dr. Runge.

I saw a couple of acupuncturists at our clinic at school. And I was just really interested in acupuncture. We also had a class that we had to take for acupuncture. I was spending all of my time reading about acupuncture and Chinese medicine instead of studying for my naturopathic classes. So finally, I decided to switch to the acupuncture program.

Education and Experience

Cassandra earned a Master of Science in Acupuncture (M.S.Ac.) from National University in 2018. One of the highlights of her education was being able to start working in the clinic and seeing patients right away.

Putting her passion into practice, Cassandra completed an intensive clinical acupuncture internship at the NUHS Whole Health Center, in Lombard. She provides acupuncture sessions for various conditions, including musculoskeletal injuries and pain, digestive disorders, stress and anxiety, psycho-emotional disorders and women’s health.

Cassandra provides acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, acupressure, cupping and essential oils to her patients.

Outside the Practice

When she’s not helping patients, Cassandra loves being in the outdoors with Dr. Runge and their dogs, hiking or exploring. The couple also enjoys dining at new Mesa restaurants or listening to live music.
